
Welcome to the Magical World of Doris Parlee
Explore the artistic legacy of Doris Parlee (1942-2019). Born and raised in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, she grew up running through creeks, exploring nature, fishing, camping. Her art was deeply inspired by nature and wildlife was a favorite aspect of her art. Inheriting the pioneering and creative aspects of previous generations, her creativity was boundless and manifested in gardening, landscaping, playing bluegrass banjo, writing poetry and finally, her oil painting and art. Doris's gift of art and inspiration will continue to future generations.
Inspired by her mother's talent to spin a yarn to entertain Doris and her little brother when they were kids, Doris created a book filled with whimsical poetry and stories for her granddaughter. she called it Forest Folk and Friends, and it is filled with bright illustrations, fantastical creatures, and poems for all ages.
